Toby’s story

Toby was born full term, due to complications during birth, and his first few months of life, he now suffers from a plethora of life limiting conditions.

Toby is a bright, cheerful, playful, and energetic little boy with a lot to deal with. Among other things Toby has been diagnosed with Severe Global Development Delay, Epilepsy, Spasticity, Osteoporosis, and Cortical Visual Impairment. These conditions mean that Toby spends most of his time in a wheelchair, apart from an hour a day, when he can use his standing frame. Toby was referred to us by Forget Me Not Hospice and having only been given a life expectancy of 6 years old, spent his 10th birthday with his Mum, Step-Dad, and Grandparents at our log cabin holiday home in Ribblesdale Park, Gisburn.

“Because Toby is severely disabled, Toby’s Grandparents haven’t been able to look after him and get involved in the way most Grandparents can. So it meant so much to have them with us. We made memories that will be with us forever. Because of Toby’s condition we never know what’s round the corner. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, it’s these little breaks that help is recharge and keep going” said Toby’s Mum, Lynsey.
