Behind every respite break and every family supported is a passionate team of people who believe that every child deserves the chance to rest, reconnect and feel they belong. At The Principle Trust Children’s Charity, our team works collaboratively across Yorkshire to support children and young people facing mental health challenges, trauma, disability, poverty and serious illness. From fundraising and partnerships to operations and family support, each member of our team is committed to creating safe spaces, meaningful experiences and lasting positive impact for the children and families we serve.
Amy Harrison
head of community, events and philanthropy
Hi, I’m Amy, Head of Community, Events and Philanthropy at The Principle Trust Children’s Charity. I’m delighted to work with Trusts and Foundations, grant-making bodies, clubs, supermarkets, schools and individual philanthropists to support our vital work across Yorkshire.
My role focuses on building meaningful and exciting partnerships with funders and supporters, while helping to expand our reach throughout the Yorkshire community. The values of the charity align so closely with my own. I truly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience joy and happiness, and to feel the powerful benefits a respite break can bring.
Just under a year ago I experienced a very difficult bereavement. A month later, I was fortunate enough to go on a UK holiday with my husband and our young family. That time away gave us the space to pause, reflect, and to create lifelong memories together. Watching my children laugh and play on the beach and in the pool was so healing for me, and marked the moment I began to find my joy again.
I am extremely passionate that as many children as possible, facing sometimes overwhelming and difficult challenges, have this opportunity for connection, rest, and making lasting special memories with their family. Kerry Magson
head of partnerships, service delivery and engagement
Hi, I’m Kerry, Head of Partnerships, Service Delivery and Engagement at The Principle Trust Children’s Charity.
I play a key role in building relationships, raising awareness and helping the charity grow its impact across Yorkshire.
I’m responsible for developing and managing the charity’s SME Patron Programme, working closely with small and medium-sized businesses who choose to support The Principle Trust on a regular basis. This includes building meaningful partnerships, nurturing long-term relationships and ensuring patrons feel connected to the families they are helping to support.
I also looks after the charity’s amazing fundraisers, supporting individuals who take on marathons, walks, runs and personal challenges in aid of the charity. From the moment someone signs up to fundraise, I’m there to guide, motivate and champion them every step of the way.
Alongside this, Kerry leads on the charity’s marketing and engagement, helping to share the stories of the families supported, raise awareness of children’s mental health challenges, and ensure The Principle Trust’s message reaches new audiences.
I’ve been with The Principle Trust for over five years and during that time I’ve loved being part of the charity’s journey, growth and evolution. What means the most to me is seeing the real, human impact of the work, hearing from families who desperately needed a break, and knowing that the support provided has helped children feel safer, happier and more hopeful.

Hello, I’m Laura, and I’m the Service Delivery Manager at The Principle Trust Children’s Charity. I’m delighted to be part of such a meaningful organisation, supporting families to access the time away they truly deserve.
As a mum of four, I know how difficult it can be to find a moment of quiet in the busyness of everyday life. Living on a farm, life is rarely dull and often manic, which is why I truly understand the importance of stepping away to rest, recharge, and spend quality time together as a family. If I ever do find some time to myself, I enjoy baking and getting creative.
I’m really passionate about helping families across Yorkshire who might not otherwise be able to take a break, so they can reconnect and make lasting memories together. In my role, I work closely with our referring partner organisations to ensure families can be referred to us smoothly. Following to make sure each family’s experience is as restful, enjoyable, and as memorable as possible.
