The Pennine Barrier Ultra Marathon is a 50 mile ultra. Included in this is 2593m of ascent is gorgeous trails throughout the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Starting at Malham, the Pennine Barrier Ultra is a worthwhile challenge to all passionate in running and pushing their limits- complete with trails filled with beautiful scenery!
This marathon took place last Saturday, May 7th, a full day event with 18 hours to complete. We were lucky enough to have two participants in this event eager to fundraise for us here at The Principle Trust Children’s Charity!
A big thank you to Tim Forster and Beth Gorman took on the Pennine Barrier Ultra marathon this year!
Together, Beth and Tim have raised over £1400 – enough money to send almost 4 families on holiday! We cannot thank and congratulate them enough on this huge achievement – their dedication will ensure fantastic memories and a break away for a family who needs it the most. A big thank you to everyone who donated, your support will be cherished by all of us here at the Trust!
Tim Forster from LaStazione (Ilkley) aimed to run this challenge in 10 hours, and his enthusiasm and dedication is something to marvel! Tim thus far has raised a total of £740.
Beth works as a nurse at Bradford Royal Infirmary, and came third in women’s – a fantastic achievement after lots of hard work – raising a total, thus far, of £725!
Beth said,
“I run anyway but I properly started training for the ultra in January and I’ve only ever run 30 miles in one go, so we’ll see how it goes.
So far, just over £600 has been donated and I would like to say thank you to everyone who has donated.”
Every penny raised will go towards offering disadvantaged, disabled and underprivileged children a free, weeklong holiday. This special time will be a safe space to make memories with loved ones and have opportunities they usually might not.
