The Principle Trust Children’s Charity is delighted to share the heartwarming success of its festive Christmas celebration, hosted at Ilkley Rugby Club inside the magical TeePee space generously gifted by BAR Events UK and long-standing supporters Dan and Laura Lakin.
This special event welcomed families supported by The Principle Trust, bringing together children referred through Home Start Craven, Early Help Harrogate and Knaresborough, Foster for Bradford, IDAS Harrogate and Craven, as well as families who have enjoyed respite breaks with the charity throughout the year. In total, more than 30 children, together with their parents and carers, joined the Trust for an afternoon filled with festive fun, creativity, and joyful memory-making.
A Community United in Kindness
Five of the charity’s dedicated Trustees – Mike Davies MBE, Andrew Davies, Fraser Gowland, Jamie Kemp, and Sarah Barraclough attended the celebration, joined by volunteers Julie Smith and Debby Holdsworth from Ison Harrison Solicitors, along with members of The Principle Trust team: Kerry Magson, Lauren Green, and Rose Lodge.
The event was made possible through the generosity of many local supporters. Ison Harrison Solicitors provided financial support, while Yorkshire Crisps, Arla Foods, and Drake and Macefield Family Butchers contributed festive refreshments. Agile Workforce also kindly donated volunteer time, with support from Laura Sykes, and event photography by Soul and Co, courtesy of Nicola and Nabin Maharjan.
Heartfelt Contributions
The celebration was enriched by moving acts of generosity from individuals and businesses who went above and beyond.
Adam Hodgkinson of Nutree Life in Ormskirk once again shared the legacy of his daughter Ava, who sadly passed away, by donating toys and games through his annual Christmas Toy Appeal. His kindness has supported countless children, including those who benefitted from gifts at the Trust’s respite homes last year.
The charity also received a wonderful collection of toys from Patron Liam Burton of Roof Spec in Morley, whose own toy appeal was supported by his business contacts, friends, and family. Local children from Westville House School added to the magic with their own heartfelt toy donations.
A Festive Afternoon to Remember
Families were warmly welcomed into the cosy TeePee before enjoying seasonal refreshments. Children were invited to immerse themselves in a variety of Christmas crafts, where they designed cards, decorated baubles, and created keepsakes to treasure.
Excitement filled the air with a much-anticipated visit from Father Christmas, who greeted each child with a beautifully donated gift. The afternoon closed with a light festive lunch shared amongst families and supporters – a simple, joyful moment that truly captured the spirit of the season.
