The Elm Tree Inn Raises Over £400 to Support Local Families

The fundraising was led by pub managers Sam and Karen, alongside their brilliant team, who went above and beyond to bring people together for such a meaningful cause. Their main event was a hugely successful community quiz night in November 2025, which saw locals from Embsay come out in force to show their support. The momentum continued into December, with additional funds raised through the sale of sweets during the pub’s Christmas Eve celebration, making it a truly festive effort for a fantastic cause.

This collaboration was made possible thanks to Liz Brewster from Craven Consultancy Services, a valued Patron of The Principle Trust Children’s Charity. Liz kindly introduced us to The Elm Tree Inn and supported Karen and the team in organising the quiz night, helping turn a great idea into a real success.

At The Principle Trust, we provide free respite breaks to vulnerable children, young people and families across Yorkshire. Our aim is simple but powerful: to improve wellbeing, reduce stress, and give families the chance to spend quality time together away from everyday pressures.

Reflecting on the fundraiser, our Partnerships and Engagement Manager Kerry Magson said:

“We are incredibly grateful for the hard work and generosity shown by Sam and Karen, their entire team, and the wonderful community at The Elm Tree Inn. Their contribution will provide six families with invaluable time to reconnect and rest. It is genuinely uplifting to see local people coming together to make such a real and lasting difference in the lives of others.”
