In today’s workplace, supporting employee wellbeing is no longer optional – it’s essential. Yet one of the most challenging and sensitive areas many organisations face is how to respond to the growing crisis of suicide, particularly among young people.
To help address this, Mind Hull and East Yorkshire, The Jordan Legacy, and The Principle Trust Children’s Charity are coming together to host a powerful and practical workshop designed specifically for HR Directors, Managers and People Leaders.
This focused morning session will explore one of the most important questions organisations face today:
How do we prevent a crisis and how do we respond if the unthinkable happens?
Why This Matters
The impact of suicide is never isolated. It reaches far beyond the individual, affecting colleagues, disrupting teams, and devastating families and communities.
For employers, this creates both a responsibility and an opportunity – to build a workplace culture where people feel safe, supported, and able to seek help before reaching crisis point.
But many organisations are still asking:
- Are we doing enough to support our people?
- Do we have the right processes in place?
- How would we respond if something happened within our team?
This workshop is designed to help answer those questions in a practical, supportive and collaborative way.
What to Expect
The session will begin with a short introduction from each of the partner charities, providing context and insight into the real-world impact of suicide on individuals and families.
The core of the morning, however, is a guided peer roundtable discussion – a safe and confidential space where HR professionals can:
- Share what they are currently doing within their organisations
- Learn from the approaches and experiences of others
- Identify realistic, practical improvements they can take forward
Together, we will explore:
- How HR teams can strengthen prevention and early intervention
- How to respond with care and clarity following a suicide, including supporting colleagues and managing communication
- Practical ways to build a culture where people feel safe to speak up and seek help
A Practical Outcome for Your Organisation
This is not just a discussion, it’s an opportunity to create real change.
Following the session, attendees will receive a Workplace Prevention & Postvention Toolkit, shaped by the insights shared on the day. This resource can be used internally for:
- Staff training
- Policy development
- Strengthening wellbeing strategies
Why Attend?
For larger organisations and corporate teams, this session offers a valuable opportunity to:
- Strengthen your Corporate Social Responsibility through meaningful engagement
- Support your people strategy and wellbeing agenda
- Connect with like-minded organisations facing similar challenges
- Take away practical tools that can make a genuine difference
