Three brave fundraisers have taken their support for The Principle Trust Children’s Charity to new heights, raising an incredible £5,700 by completing a tandem skydive from more than 15,000 feet!
On Saturday 7th August, Simon Hawkshaw from Bathe of Wharfedale in Ilkley, a valued Patron and long-standing supporter of our charity, was joined by his friend Nick Simpson and Nick’s daughter Harriet for a once-in-a-lifetime challenge at the Grange-over-Sands drop zone.
Together, the trio stepped well outside their comfort zones to help children across Yorkshire facing some of life’s toughest challenges.
15,000 Feet, 125mph and One Incredible Cause
Strapped to experienced instructors, Simon, Nick and Harriet jumped from more than 15,000 feet, free-falling through the sky at speeds of up to 125mph before their parachutes opened and they made the considerably calmer journey back down to earth!
Their bravery has certainly paid off.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who sponsored the team, they raised over £5,700 – enough to fund nine week-long respite breaks for nine families.
At The Principle Trust, we provide free respite breaks for children and families across Yorkshire facing adversity, giving them the opportunity to step away from the pressures of everyday life, rest, reconnect and create precious memories together.
Through our 100% donations policy, every penny raised through fundraisers like Simon’s skydive goes directly towards supporting our cause.
A Long-Standing Supporter of The Principle Trust
Simon has been a Patron of The Principle Trust for more than five years and has continually supported our mission to make a difference to children and families across Yorkshire.
Speaking after completing the challenge, Simon said:
“The skydive this Saturday was a once-in-a-lifetime challenge and, while it was definitely outside of our comfort zones, we knew we were doing it for a cause that means a great deal to us. We want to extend our sincere thanks to every person who donated. It’s going to make such a difference to so many children and families, and we’re very grateful for the support.”
