Get ready to scrum down for a great cause – Rugby4Respite is back for its third year, and it’s shaping up to be our biggest and best tournament yet!
Join us on Sunday 19th April 2026 at Ilkley RFC, Stacks Field, for a day packed with tag rugby, family fun, and fundraising at the Ilkley R.F.C International T5s Tag Rugby Tournament.
After two incredible years filled with laughter, teamwork, and community spirit, this year’s event promises even more energy, excitement, and heart – all in support of The Principle Trust Children’s Charity, helping children across Yorkshire facing adverse childhood experiences such as mental health challenges, trauma, abuse, poverty, serious illness or disabilities enjoy free respite holidays and make magical family memories that last a lifetime.
🏉 The Story Behind Rugby4Respite
Founded in 2024, the tournament began as a light-hearted challenge for the junior coaches at Ilkley Rugby Club to prove they “still had it” and to give their young players a few lessons in how not to play!
What started as a friendly match soon grew into a full-scale community event with over 100 players, local sponsors, and cheering families.
Year 1: Raised over £5,000 for The Principle Trust
Year 2: Grew by half again, raising an incredible £8,000
Now, as we kick off Year 3, Rugby4Respite has firmly cemented itself as a highlight of the local calendar, combining rugby, laughter, and generosity in equal measure.

Watch adults go head-to-head in 5-a-side tag rugby, with quick 5-minute matches moving from group stages to a high-energy final. Whether you’re competing for the trophy or dodging the wooden spoon, every player walks away with a t-shirt and goody bag.
🎈 Family Fun for Everyone:
There’s plenty happening off the pitch too, expect a village-fair atmosphere with food stalls, ice cream, children’s games, and the clubhouse bar serving drinks well into the evening.
