‘Un-fore-gettable’ in every way, The Principle Trust Children’s Charity Golf Day was held last week at the Bradford Golf Club. The weather held out and thankfully the 60 players from across Yorkshire weren’t ‘swingin’ in the rain’.
It’s our pleasure to reveal the results from our first-ever charity golf day. Our 15 golf teams and sponsors helped us raise an incredible £6,000, which will enable 10 families with disadvantaged, disabled and poorly children to escape their everyday troubles and create happy memories together.
Those families will also benefit from our new initiative ‘Food For Families’ whereby we help to remove the financial obstacle of food poverty for families for whom a family holiday might not otherwise be possible. The initiative demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Yorkshire’s most vulnerable families.
We’ve had some wonderful responses from families that have benefited from the initiative, which Morrisons is supporting with discount and free delivery. One such feedback from a family in Leeds, said:
“Honestly the food delivery was a really lovely surprise and so beneficial, we honestly did not have to spend another penny on food if we didn’t want to. Times are hard for everyone at the minute and it meant the money we had set aside, which was a lot with the current cost of living, could go on creating memories with our children instead. The variety of the hamper was plentiful and it catered for everyone. Your holiday, including the hamper,meant if you didn’t want to you did not have to spend a single penny. We was really, really grateful for it and it was a lovely act of kindness on top of the gifted holiday.”
Congratulations to Stephen Thomas and team – 3rd place, Martin Leighton and the Airedale Group – 2nd place, and jumping for joy (literally!) Simon Dawson SID Building & Groundworks Ltd and team who won the golf day.
Our evening was hosted by the witty Kevin Lynch, former 1992 UEFA cup final referee and iconic football league ref. The former ref retold some hilarious stories from days gone by.
